In partnership with Morgan State University, U.S. Navy Band’s Summit for Diversity in Music will bring together leaders and performers from across the arts community to discuss how musical organizations can create lasting partnerships, better connect and develop audiences, attract the finest talent to their organizations, and ultimately, better represent Americans of all backgrounds and ethnicities. These events are free and open to the public.
The performances are scheduled in the theaters of the Murphy Fine Arts Center as follows (All concerts are free):
12 P.M., Gilliam Concert Hall
U.S. Navy Band Commodores concert with Morgan State University students.
1 P.M., Turpin-Lamb Theatre
Panel discussion with featured guests Diana Saez, Nicholas Williams, and Leah Claiborne.
2:30 P.M., Turpin-Lamb Theatre
Chamber music concert featuring “Concerto in C minor" by Helen Hagan, performed by Leah Claiborne and U.S. Navy Band Chamber Winds.
3:30 P.M., Gilliam Concert Hall
Combined concert featuring U.S. Navy Band ensembles and Morgan State students, featuring guest conductors Diana Saez, Nicholas Williams, and Jorim Reid.
