DESCRIPTION:Morgan State University will host U.S. Secretary of Transportat
 ion Pete Buttigieg for a special visit and tour of the National Transporta
 tion Center lab. During the visit\, Sec. Buttigieg will meet with student 
 leaders and highlight President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law an
 d its investments in transportation equity. \n\nMorgan currently serves as
  one of two Historically Black College & University (HBCU) Transportation 
 Center leads. Last year\, the Department of Transportation invested $1.4 m
 illion in Morgan State University’s Urban Mobility & Equity Center\, whi
 ch researches all aspects of transportation – from evacuation in an emer
 gency to pricing on toll highways to transit use and routes. \n\nWhile at 
 Morgan\, Sec. Buttigieg will learn more about the University's transportat
 ion-related degree programs and the School of Engineering. In addition\, h
 e will also experience presentations on the University's COVID-19 Dashboar
 d and connected autonomous vehicles visualization\, and demonstrations of 
 Morgan's work with an autonomous wheelchair and robot dog and car/bicycle 
 simulations. \n\nThe visit will be capped by a town hall discussion with s
 tudents and faculty\, on a variety of cross-disciplinary topics intersecti
 ng with the transporation needs of today's—and tomorrow's—urban landsc
