About this Event
This is the 2nd annual Maternal Child & Family Health Equity Symposium held by the Maternal Child & Family Health Equity Initiative at the Morgan State University School of Community Health & Policy funded by the Morgan State University Center for Urban Health Equity. This year we will focus on the future of black maternal health. We are all aware of the black maternal mortality crisis in the US. Now we would like to focus on strategies and solutions to combat this crisis leveraging our community assets and partnerships with public health professionals, healthcare providers and advocacy groups. In this symposium, we will discuss the role of racism and internal bias in maternal medicine and the role of doulas in improving black maternal health.
This symposium is ideal for community stakeholders, public health practitioners, policymakers, health care providers, researchers, and students who want to further their science and practice to identify opportunities amid adversity to improve the health of women, children, and their families.
