Following the success of the Inaugural “Out of (and Into) Africa” conference - International Symposium on African Consumer Marketing and Firm Strategies - which was held at the Graves School of Business and Management, Morgan State University, Baltimore in 2018, we are now excited to launch the next edition of the conference series. This 2021 edition is completely online (using the zoom platform), includes multi-HBCU involvement and has three major tracks: firm strategy, consumer marketing and society & institutions. We received strong submissions leading to insightful selected papers and exciting panels, and forward-looking talks.
We ask that all participants (authors, panelists, guest speakers and audience members) please register immediately at the link given here: bit.ly/OoAConfReg
Registration is quick (less than a minute) and free of charge. Having provided the information requested on the registration form, you will be emailed a Zoom link for the conference. We hope to make this second edition of the “Out of (and Into) Africa” series an even more successful event than the first, and look forward to productive contributions by all.
The conference intends to provide opportunities for brainstorming and dialogues among researchers and marketing practitioners. We will especially encourage collaboration between academia and businesses in the US and those from all over Africa. The conference is especially useful for those with interest in international affairs and international business – particularly with those interested in the African context. Such people include academic faculty, doctoral students, policy makers, economic development experts, bureaucrats, think tank researchers, NGO experts, and senior corporate managers.
The conference will feature U.S. State Department Bureau of African Affairs, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Ervin Massinga. as keynote speaker This international business conference will also feature multiple full sessions of cutting-edge academic research presentations focusing on the African context and innovative business approaches. The conference also features multiple panels on African consumer insights, SME development and Africapitalism, NGO vs. corporate investment, youth entrepreneurship, and the role of language. This scholarly event demonstrates the growing significance and currency of the Graves School of Business and Management, as well as establishing Morgan’s leadership in understanding African international business. The conference is sponsored by Morgan State University, Howard University and VCIBER-CMCC.
Conference Chair: Dr. Omar J. Khan (firstname.lastname@example.org) is Professor of Marketing and International Business at the Department of Business Administration at Morgan’s Graves School of Business and Management. He can be reached for further details.
