The Center for Equitable AI & Machine Learning Systems (CEAMLS) at Morgan State
University is pleased to announce its 1st annual National Symposium on Equitable AI, to be
hosted in Baltimore, Maryland on April 5, 2024. This event is an opportunity for critical and
constructive reflection on AI’s past, present, and future, with special attention to issues of equity
and racial bias.

This year’s theme is “Elevate Equity: Reimagining AI’s Potential.” We cordially invite
proposals for participation on this theme via talks, posters, workshops, or panels.
Topics especially welcome include: pathways for improving the equitability of AI applications in
education, healthcare, and criminal justice; tracing legacies of bias and diversity gaps in
datasets and AI deployment; enhancing diversity and equity in AI research and development;
the role of equity in AI ethics, policy, and governance; and managing environmental impacts of AI (for
instance, regarding environmental justice).
