About this Event
The Mental Health Association of Maryland, in collaboration with Bowie State University, Coppin State University, Morgan State University, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, has launched a four-year initiative to train thousands of students, faculty, and staff across each campus in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). (MHFA) is an international public awareness curriculum that works to destigmatize conversations around mental health while providing a tangible action plan for participants to address crisis and non-crisis mental health situations - much like CPR/first aid supports physical health situations. MHFA is proven to increase the likelihood of bystander helping behaviors, but also increases the learner's own mental health literacy.
One of the thriving initiatives of Morgan State's Mental Health Task Force, which is chaired by Dr. Anita Wells, is hosting MHFA training campus-wide. The Task Force will host a virtual MHFA Information Session for grad students this Thursday, October 20 from 1:30-2:30 pm.
