The Benjamin A. Quarles Institute is pleased to announce its March speaker, Dr. Paul Finkelman, President of Gratz College and renowned legal scholar. Dr. Finkleman will share "Supreme Injustice: Slavery and the Supreme Court," on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 11 A.M., in Martin D. Jenkins Hall, Room 106.
Dr. Finkelman is one of the world’s leading experts on race relations and the law. He has written and edited more than fifty books and published more than 200 scholarly articles on aspects of legal history, race, and related topics. He is particularly known for his work on the Civil War era in the United States. His volume on the case of Dred Scott v. Sandford has been a staple in Morgan State classrooms for many years. His next book, Supreme Injustice: Slavery in the Nation’s Highest Court, will be published by Harvard University Press in 2018.
Dr. Finkelman holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and was a Fellow in Law and Humanities at Harvard Law School.
