About this Event
1700 E. Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore, MD 21251
The two-story Hurt Gymnasium, completed in 1950 and named in honor of Edward P. Hurt, has been extensively renovated and is now ready to host its grand opening. Named after the late, great Edward P. Hurt, who served Morgan as head coach of the football, basketball, and track teams, as athletic director, and as a professor and instructor. Hurt Gym was the home of Morgan’s men’s basketball team from 1950 until Talmadge L. Hill Field House opened in 1974. The gymnasium was the venue for the first interracial college basketball game played in the U.S. south of the Mason-Dixon Line, which took place Feb. 12, 1952, when the Bears hosted the Loyola College in Maryland Greyhounds.
