About this Event
Graduate students serving as Teaching Assistants play a vital role in shaping the academic and emotional experiences of their students. In this GradTEACH Workshop, Dr. D’Andre Poole from the Morgan State University Counseling Center will lead an insightful session on recognizing and responding to mental health challenges in the classroom.
Participants will explore strategies for fostering a supportive learning environment, learn how to identify signs of student distress, and discuss appropriate ways to refer students to campus resources. The workshop will also address the importance of self-care for graduate instructors and offer tools for maintaining personal well-being while supporting others.
This session is ideal for graduate students who want to enhance their teaching practice by integrating empathy, awareness, and mental health advocacy into their educational approach.
