This workshop provides support to individuals who intend to submit an NIH Pilot Proposal, either for internal (RCMI/ASCEND) funding or for external SuRE, K or R21 mechanisms. This workshop (or equivalent training) is required for all ASCEND internal pilot submissions and highly recommended to all investigators who have not previously successfully attained NIH funding.

Participants in this workshop will work closely with each other and the instructor team to generate their proposals over the course of the 3-months long workshop. The goal of the workshop is to generate a proposal that is ready to be submitted by January 2023. Funding is available to compensate external (to the University) mentors.

Workshop participants will meet on Zoom for a 2-day kick-off on September 10 and 11th, and thereafter weekly for 2 hours on Zoom most weeks through the first week of December. Participants are expected to complete weekly assignments. The total anticipated weekly time commitment will be about 12-15 hours.
