About this Event
Interested to move down the LLM iceberg?
The ELM Lab (Experimental Language Modeling Lab) at Morgan State University is a research initiative for interdisciplinary experimentation and exploration with language models (e.g. Llama, Deepseek, Gemini, ChatGPT, and the like). Our agenda includes:
A. Build researcher capacity for working with language models "down the LLM iceberg," from prompt engineering to API querying, markdown languages, local models, agent and RAG design, fine-tuning, etc.
B. Support researchers’ projects involving language models through intellectual community, feedback, resource sharing, and network building
C. Share information, opportunities, and resources with anyone who’d like to work with LLMs more effectively and with greater control and transparency over their functioning and results.
Our meetings in Spring 2026 feature
a. interactive workshops led by visiting experts
b. interactive workshops led by ELM members with special competences
c. regular “check-ins” from members about their ongoing projects with language models
d. discussion of emerging controversies and innovations
Faculty, students and community members are invited to join.
In Spring 2026 we meet Thursdays, 3pm-4pm, by Zoom
