This session opens the discussion of what some have on their minds, but have not yet talked through. As we re-enter MSU with a renewed perspective on life and learning, we explore expectations vs reality, influence vs impact and what “showing up” means.
- What experience do you expect from an HBCU (before, during & after school) and does it differ from that of a PWI?
- In the wake of a health pandemic, racial inequalities and an equity tug-of-war, how is our HBCU shaping us now vs then?
- What impact can we, as an MSU family, make on and off campus, as well as in our communities?
Attendees will walk away with:
- A thought-provoking conversation of our HBCU expectations, reality, and future
- An open discussion on activism and policy that we can tap into as students, alumni, faculty and staff
- Principles and strategies for informed decision-making when navigating the world, post graduation
