Imperfect unions in higher education: How inside-outside strategies form and why they matter

Unionization rates in higher education have been increasing recently, particularly benefiting historically marginalized workers like staff, adjuncts, and graduate students. However, this upward trend has prompted some to romanticize unions without scrutinizing their existence as organizations. This talk, a paper in progress, unearths how workers in higher education perceive their unions and collectively organize out of their union's limitations.
