A week long event to commemorate Film Director Gloria Rolando & some of her most beloved films that have sparked conversation diaspora wide!

Gloria Rolando is an Emmy-nominated documentarian celebrated for her compelling storytelling that centers stories of the African Diaspora. Over her prolific career, Rolando has produced dozens of films, including the groundbreaking Eyes of the Rainbow, one of the few documentaries chronicling the life of Assata Shakur and her experiences in asylum in Cuba.

Her latest work, Sisters of the Heart, delves into the historical and cultural connection between Havana and Baltimore, highlighting educational initiatives led by the Oblate Sisters of Providence, founded by Mother Mary Lange—the first Black Catholic order of nuns in the United States.

Many Morgan students have had the privelage to study abroad in Cuba and meet Rolando. This week long event is an opportunity for those who have not had the chance to study abroad yet to learn the rich history of the African Diaspora through Rolando's work while celebrating her impact and influence.

Screenings will be happening all week long at Goucher College & Johns Hopkins University as well.
