bSHAPE Health Study Opportunity

The BSHAPE (Being Safe, Healthy, And Positively Empowered) study is designed for African born women 18-50 years of age who have had stressful life experiences. The study is testing the effectiveness of a culturally informed intevention called BSHAPE which was designed based on in-depth interviews and focus groups with African women in the US. Over the course of four weeks, women will learn about skills to manage their health and safety, the availability of resources in the community, and have the opportunity to share their experiences about health care difficulties, mistreatment, and complexities of immigration in a supportive context. All women who are placed in the program are given resources at the end of sessions and given more specific resources tailored to their needs if requested. Women are compensated each time they meet with the assistant and also for completing the online intervention.
