Join us for an enriching conversation bridging generations as we celebrate Social Work Month. We'll be joined by two esteemed Morgan alums who embody the enduring legacy of social work in urban communities. Dr. Ruth T. Sheffey, a distinguished scholar in literature and the second longest-serving faculty member at Morgan State University, may not be a social worker by profession. Still, her generosity towards social work students and her partnership with her late husband, Vernon R. Sheffey, a renowned social worker, exemplify the spirit of social work. Dr. Sheffey's 62-year tenure at Morgan and her contributions to education have left an indelible mark on countless lives, including notable figures such as Pulitzer Prize-winning writers and academic leaders. Dr. Mary Page, a trailblazer in social work and University of Pittsburgh, School of Social Work emeritus professor, forged a remarkable career at the intersection of social change and community empowerment. Dr. Page's impact has been profound, from her early days at the segregated YWCA to her academic leadership roles. Her dedication to refining social work education and her therapeutic interventions have touched the lives of countless individuals over four decades. Join us as we honor these remarkable individuals and explore the enduring legacy of social work in our communities.
