Event Details:

Purpose: Black August is a way to “honor the lives and deaths of Black political freedom fighters and prisoners killed by the state, bringing awareness to prison conditions, and to honor the radical tradition of Black resistance against anti-Black state violence systemic oppression.” 

This celebrate black culture and excellence by supporting locally-owned, black businesses. Originally started in the 70’s, Black August is an event will support the culture by bringing local, black artisans, musicians, and creatives together. 

Black August started as a day to “honor the radical tradition of Black resistance against anti-Black state violence and systemic oppression” and has grown into a day to celebrate and honor Black Liberation and support Black Owned Businesses much like Juneteenth and Black History Month.
