Two Trains Running, written by August Wilson comes to the Murphy Fine Arts Center on the campus of Morgan State University for 10 performance-- directed by CJay Philip, acclaimed, theater-maker, choreographer, singer, songwriter, actress, playwright and educator.

Two Trains Running premiered on Broadway in 1992 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.  The play is part of Wilson's American Century Cycle.  Set in 1969, the story takes place in  Memphis Lee's diner --located in Pittsburgh's "Hill District"--during the rise of the Black Power movement.  We get a close up look at the diners' regular patrons navigating the perils of racial injustice, poverty, and impending gentrification as Memphis fights for a fair price for his restaurant, which is set for demolition.  It explores the social and psychological manifestatinos of the changes that will befall the members of this community with the "urban renewal" that has been promised.

This production  is part of The Baltimore August Wilson Celebration.  The Celebration is  3-year project that aims to unite Baltimore's diverse theatre community by presenting three or four productions of an August Wilson play each year...each presented by a different theatre compnay.
