DESCRIPTION:Devin Allen is a self-taught\, American photographer\, photojou
 rnalist\, and social justice activist based in Baltimore\, Maryland. He gai
 ned national attention after the Freddie Gray protests in 2015\, when his d
 ocumentary photograph entitled "Baltimore Uprising" was published as Time m
 agazine's May 2015 cover photo. His documentary photo of the George Floyd p
 rotests was published as Time's June 2020 cover.\n\nIn 2017\, he was named 
 the first fellow of the Gordon Parks Foundation Fellowship and was nominate
 d for an NAACP Image Award as a debut author for his book\, A Beautiful Ghe
 tto (Haymarket Books).\n\nDevin’s powerful imagery of Black life has been f
 eatured in New York Magazine\, The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, a
 nd Aperture.\n\nJELMA welcomes Devin Allen to speak on his life\, inspirati
 on\, and storytelling through film. This Artist Talk session will be an ope
 n-discussion\, welcome to all students\, faculty\, staff\, and creative pat
 rons. Attendance is free to the general public.
