Nikhil Chandavarkar is Chief of Communication and Outreach in the Division of Sustainable Development, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), and is responsible for dialoguing on sustainable development with the United Nations’ various constituencies, including major groups, regional entities and agencies of the UN system. Since joining the United Nations in 1979, he has served in Brazil, Colombia, and Paraguay and in management positions in New York and has advised governments in a variety of countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, including Mongolia, Timor Leste, Morocco, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, on human development and sustainable development policies. He regularly speaks and writes on sustainable development issues, including the green economy, climate change and related policy matters.
